1. Policy Statement

Edu Give CIC is committed to promoting equality, celebrating diversity, and fostering inclusion in every aspect of our work. We believe education and creativity should be accessible to all, regardless of background, identity, or circumstance.

We recognise our legal duties under the Equality Act 2010, including the Public Sector Equality Duty, and we actively work to eliminate discrimination, advance equality of opportunity, and foster good relations between different groups.

As a Community Interest Company, we reinvest in people and communities, and we are committed to ensuring our services are welcoming, accessible, and inclusive for everyone.

2. Purpose of this Policy

This policy sets out how Edu Give CIC will:

  • Promote fairness, dignity, and respect in our services and employment practices.

  • Comply with the Equality Act 2010 and other relevant UK legislation.

  • Take proactive steps to ensure equality, diversity, and inclusion are embedded in our culture, decision-making, and delivery of services.

We will not unlawfully discriminate against anyone on the basis of:

4. Our Commitments

a. Service Delivery

  • Ensure all programmes, courses, and community projects are designed to be inclusive and accessible.

  • Provide reasonable adjustments for disabled participants.

  • Actively engage with underrepresented communities to widen participation.

b. Employment & Volunteering

  • Recruit, select, and promote staff and volunteers fairly and transparently.

  • Offer training, progression, and development opportunities without discrimination.

  • Provide flexibility and adjustments to support individual needs (e.g., caring responsibilities, disabilities, or religious practices).

c. Governance & Decision-Making

  • Ensure diversity in leadership and representation where possible.

  • Consider equality and inclusion in all policy and strategic decisions.

  • Maintain accountability through monitoring and reporting.

5. Responsibilities

  • Directors/Board: Hold ultimate responsibility for ensuring compliance with this policy.

  • Managers/Coordinators: Ensure the policy is implemented in day-to-day activities and that staff/volunteers understand their responsibilities.

  • Staff & Volunteers: Must respect and uphold this policy in their work and interactions.

  • Learners & Participants: Are encouraged to contribute to an inclusive environment and report any concerns.

6. Complaints & Breaches

  • Any discrimination, harassment, or victimisation will not be tolerated.

  • Concerns can be raised through Edu Give CIC’s Complaints Policy.

  • Serious breaches may result in disciplinary action or termination of involvement with the organisation.

7. Monitoring & Review

  • Equality data (e.g., participation, recruitment, outcomes) will be monitored where appropriate and anonymised.

  • Annual reviews will be carried out by the Board to ensure effectiveness.

  • This policy will be updated in line with changes to legislation or organisational practice.
