Volunteer Policy

Edu Give CIC

1. Introduction

Volunteers are at the heart of Edu Give CIC. They bring energy, skills, and creativity that strengthen our projects and make a real difference in the community. This policy sets out our approach to recruiting, supporting, and valuing volunteers.

Edu Give CIC recognises that volunteering is a two-way relationship: volunteers contribute their time and skills, and in return, we provide meaningful opportunities, training, and support.

2. Purpose of the Policy

The purpose of this policy is to:

  • Ensure volunteers are treated with dignity, fairness, and respect.

  • Provide clarity on roles, responsibilities, and expectations.

  • Support a safe, inclusive, and positive volunteering environment.

  • Comply with UK legislation, including safeguarding, health & safety, and data protection.

3. Recruitment

  • Opportunities will be advertised openly and fairly.

  • We welcome volunteers of all backgrounds, in line with our Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Policy.

  • Certain roles may require DBS checks, safeguarding training, or specific skills.

All volunteers will receive:

  • An induction to Edu Give CIC, its mission, and values.

  • Role-specific training (e.g., oral history interviewing, event support, digital photography assistance).

  • Health & safety, safeguarding, and data protection awareness.

5. Support & Supervision

  • Each volunteer will have a named supervisor/point of contact.

  • Regular check-ins will be provided to ensure volunteers feel supported.

  • Reasonable expenses (e.g., travel and lunch) will be reimbursed.

  • Volunteers will be invited to training sessions, recognition events, and celebrations.

Edu Give CIC will:

  • Provide a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment.

  • Recognise and value the contribution of volunteers.

  • Offer flexibility where possible to meet individual needs.

  • Listen to feedback and act on concerns.

Volunteers are expected to:
